While a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, Uncle John would frequently pick me up in the morning after I spent a weekend home and take me to my dorm as he worked close by. He always seemed to enjoy the experience of the 45 minute drive together.  Throughout the years, he would frequently reminisce about those trips. He always added that he throughly enjoyed seeing all of the cute college girls!

One day recently Phil asked me if I would help him move a chair for his dad during my lunch break. I happily obliged, and we set off to get the chair. That is  when I met Mr. John. Phil, and I moved the chair from one house to another. Mr. John was very thankful! We chatted for about 10 mins then Phil, and I went back to work. Phil would always come in and tell me that his dad asked about me. I saw Mr. John a few more times after that. He was always glad to see me, and always had great stories! I am very happy to have met Mr. John!!

We offer condolences to all of John's family and friends, and offer our prayers for John and for all those who also pray for him.
Although we weren't fortunate to share many experiences with John, we do gratefully remember how responsive and successful he was in assisting us with a few "domestic repair tasks".
John certainly satisfied the necessary criterion of a good life: helping others.

I was sorry to read that John had passed on April 7th.  I know that John loved his family dearly as he shared many fond memories. 

John and I worked together as contractors at GSFC for many years. John retired a few years before me so we lost contact. 

I  know that he will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

I am one of the newer residents of Haverford Community and met John just 15 or 16 years ago.  He did some repairs around my house and, after my husband died, when the community lost power, he called to ask if I knew how to use our new generator.  When I said I didn't he came over to get it started for me, helped me plug in my power cords, showing me all the while how to do it myself in the future,  and even ran some lines over to our neighbor Peppi.  I think that was when I came to appreciate him the most.  He and Florence were dear to me and my children.  Adrian, my young grandson, was happy to visit them and he is now learning to play piano on a keyboard John gave him two years ago.  We will miss you, John, and, yes, please pray for your family here as you enjoy your reunion with Florence and your son. 

John, you have been our church friend for many years.  Both you and Florence.  It was funny that you sat behind us at Mass and our favorite aunt & uncle were Florence and John.  In the last few years you and Steve have had many a Sunday afternoon remembering the "old" days and East Baltimore.  Like us. you loved your dogs.
We are thankful that you could continue to be in your home and were at peace when you died.  You are now reunited with your beloved Florence.  Pray for your family and all of us left down here.
