Massimini for 53 wonderful years; devoted Mother to Amy Hoffman (David), Laura Ashbaugh (Jason), Michael P. Massimini II, and Julie Massimini (Hans Larsen); cherished Grammy to Joshua, Kathryn, and Benjamin Hoffman, and William Ashbaugh; dear Grandma to furbabies Caspian, Buddy, Raven, Arya and Zelda; loving sister to Carolyn Lane (Chip Wood), and Joyce Yarwood. Kathleen is survived by numerous other loving family and friends.
Kathleen was a great cook, but she really loved to eat out and found any excuse to do so with her friends and family. Her favorite consumables included Dunkin coffee, a medium rare steak, Maryland crab (in all of its various forms), Otterbein chocolate chip cookies, M&M’s and tiramisu. She also enjoyed watching sports including the Baltimore Ravens and Orioles, as well as the Virginia Cavaliers. As a student in the 60’s at Eastern HS she would drop by Memorial Stadium to watch Johnny Unitas practice with the former Baltimore Colts.
After completing RN school at MD General Hospital, she earned a BSN from the University of Virginia and a MSN from University of Maryland at Baltimore; then Kathleen stayed home to care for and raise her four children. Returning to the workforce, she dedicated 22 years to school nursing at Orems Elementary School in Baltimore County, caring for countless children with compassion and kindness. She loved being with and around children!
In retirement, Kathleen could be found in shops from Havre de Grace, MD to Lancaster, PA happily scoping out bargains on antique furniture and any number of other items. She was a long time student in Bible Study Fellowship, a member of The Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, Three Arts Club - Homeland in Baltimore, MD, and an online follower of Beautiful Table Settings. Churches attended over time include Northwood Appold UM, Central Presbyterian, Grace Fellowship, Perry Hall Baptist, 1st Baptist Alexandria, and currently, Long Green Baptist.
Kathleen died as she lived, surrounded by loved ones.
