Peggy Miedzianowski

Peg was born in Baltimore and raised in the Dundalk area, attending primary school at St. Elizabeth and high school at Catholic High, where she specialized in art. She attended college at Rosary Hill in New York for an art degree, focusing on jewelry. She was also quite business savvy and ended up entering the finance world. She started at First National Bank of Baltimore as part of their design team and worked her way up until she was the head of the customer service for national accounts at M&T upon her retirement. While working at M&T she met her husband Ed, and they enjoyed nearly 52 years of wedded bliss after marrying in 1972.

Despite her MS diagnosis some 20 years ago, by sheer force of will Peg continued to be active and work through full retirement age, partly to prove that she could. She made a point to take daily walks in order to remain active – this is likely what kept her going while employed. She never really slowed down while working for the bank.

Peg loved traveling with Ed - road trips, Disney, trips to the west coast and Arizona and Rehoboth - she loved them all. She had fond memories of trips to Mexico, Hawaii, and Vancouver and the Pacific Northwest, all with Ed. She also adored Disney with Ed and their daughter Laura, making magic happen there every summer.

She never lost her love of creating art or of enjoying the arts. She made beautiful works art with calligraphy until her hands were no longer steady enough for the work. She adored folk art and arts and crafts shows. Peg loved musical theater, Dirty Dancing, and hospital and police dramas. She loved to read mysteries and thoroughly enjoyed a wide variety of music, with Amy Grant as a perennial favorite. She wouldn’t openly admit it but did occasionally enjoy some electronic dance music. She absolutely adored anything Christmas.

Peg loved thin mint Girl Scout cookies and popcorn flavored jellybeans. She’d run across the street for a good crab cake or excellent fried shrimp. Before she really gave up alcohol, she would make a point to order a frozen grasshopper at fancier restaurants. She always preferred dessert drinks to beer or regular wine, and NEVER drank straight spirits. She’d do just about anything for strawberries. Her favorite dessert was vanilla bean ice cream with a little crème de menthe drizzled over it. A vanilla Coke was her idea of heaven, but ALWAYS wanted tons of foam on the top.

Throughout her life she was very social and enjoyed volunteering, from being the Girl Scout Cookie Mom, to running the Bingo room at Laura’s primary school winter fair, to helping out with the food pantry at St. Joseph’s Church. It seemed folks always knew her by face, if not by name...and EVERYONE knew her fantastic cackle.

She was a devout Catholic and tried her very best to live up to what Jesus taught – she loved everyone, tried not to judge others, would give generously to charitable organizations. She was fiercely loyal to her family, and kind and loving to those around her. She always welcomed all of Laura's friends, treating them like family…especially the weirdo goofballs.

Preceded in death by her father Henry in 1974 and mother Clara in 2002, Peggy leaves behind her beloved husband Ed, daughter Laura, Son-in-law Christopher Pedroso and his mother Julie; Sister-in-law Diane Hewes and her husband and son Vaughn and Vaughn, Jr. She also leaves behind cousins and friends, all of whom loved her dearly.

The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc., 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, Maryland 21093 on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 from 4PM to 7PM. Peggy’s life will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thurs, February 8, 2024 at 11AM.

Interment Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens.
