Reba was born on June 15th 1910 in Sparks, MD. Her parents were William and Bertha Ensor and her siblings were Zeta, Lionel, and Huldah. In those days, Reba and the other school children rode horses to the local school where stalls were provided. She graduated from Sparks High School in 1927 and went on to attend the University of Maryland for two years. She then transferred to Boston University, graduating with a BS in Education in 1931. She earned her MS from the Texas College of Arts and Industries in 1953.
On June 30, 1932, she married William Cecil Cooper in Sparks, MD. Reba dedicated her life to education, primarily elementary school students. She traveled extensively with her family, living in Texas, Puerto Rico, and Florida. She has had a lifelong enjoyment for playing golf and was a member of the Country Club of Orlando since 1959. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends. Her home was always open and a "must stop" for friends that were passing through central Florida. Reba had a real affinity for Maryland crabcakes (no other crabs would do).
Reba's strength was amazing and noted by all that knew her. Her self-reliance was a testament to the values that were learned growing up in rural Maryland and then surviving the Great Depression. She remained active and healthy throughout her life, playing golf on her 101st birthday and attending the gym regularly. Reba was admired by many and her life will be truly celebrated.
She is survived by her children Katherine Cooper and Bob Cooper and her daughter-in law, Lynn Cooper. Her grandchildren are David Cooper and Amanda Cooper Fine. Her husband of 75 years, William Cooper, died on August 29th, 2007. Also survived numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends in the Lemmon Funeral Home of Dulaney Valley, Inc. 10 W. Padonia Road (at York Road) Timonium, MD 21093 on Friday from 7 to 9PM.
