Mrs Sofia Haliliwas one of the smartest,and efficient professionals that I ever had the pleasure of working with.  If you add to that her kindness and willingness to help others along with her culinary skills you have one of God's greatest creations. Sofia left a lasting legacy
to all that she encountered.

Lola, you have been a significant part of my life. I've learned so much from you and I wish I could have done enough for you as much as you have done for everyone else. Thank you for being a role model and making me a better person. Thank you for your support and love, care and generosity that no one can match. I hope to emulate your kindness through my life as you did in yours. I think about you every single day, you are still missed and will always be missed. Sofia was the most caring, compassionate and competent persons I've ever known. She came to work with me in 1976, our assignment was to develop the first Office Of Minority Business Enterprise (OMBE) for the State of Maryland.  Sofia took charge using her vast organizational and administrative skills, supplementing our enthusiasm.  She established a record keeping system and trained our staff to maintain the system. We were able to get the office up and running and to meet all of our targeted goals. She was remarkable.  She played a pivotal role in the establishment of what is now known as The Governor's Office Of Minority Affairs, without her contribution our success would not have been possible.  It was a distinct privilege to have known her, and have her work side by side with me. I am going to miss her and the delicious gourmet Asian dishes she would prepare for me and my family on Holidays.

We'll miss you Mommy Sophie, but heaven has a new beautiful angel to watch over us.

Your sweet smile will be surely missed by all of us. Rest peacefully Mommy Sophie.

May your soul rest in peace with the Lord and with all the angels. We will miss you Aling Sophie. You were the good neighbor that everybody loves. God Bless.

I was extremely saddened to hear of Sophie's passing.  Even after her retirement from the State of Maryland's Governor's Office, she never failed to remember a birthday or occasion. Condolences to the Halili family from the Ojeda family in Los Angeles, CA.  Our mother, Asuncion (Siony) Ojeda, was a longtime friend and former co-worker with Tita Sofie at USAID.

My prayers go out to the family.  I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs Halili some years ago and she made me feel so at home in her home and treated my son Nicholas as if he was one of her grandchildren. I will never forget that.  Thank you.
