

David C. Bickley, Sr., of Tollesboro, went to meet his savior and friend on August 30, 2014 following a five year battle with pulmonary fibrosis and subsequent lung transplant in 2012. David was born on June 25, 1952. David was a loving and caring husband, father, pap-paw, and friend. David was an elder at Plumville Church of Christ. He never met a stranger and would be at your side for support and prayer in time of rejoicing and time of need. David worked hard, but also knew the value of time and family.
He retired from Carmeuse Lime after 31 dedicated years. He will be
forever missed and remembered by all those who met him. God has another angel now.
He was preceded in death by his son, David Bickley, Jr., father, William “Dan” Bickley, mother, Lena Hamm Bickley, and beloved sister, Faye Hord. He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Pauline Applegate Bickley, daughters Melissa (Jeff) Redmond and Melinda (Joe) Hiatt, five grandchildren, Katie Redmond, Bryant Redmond, Jonathan Bickley, Andy Hiatt, and Cecilia Hiatt. He is, also, survived by his seven remaining siblings, Bill (Ruth) Bickley, Bernetta Sweet, Geneva (Henry) Kilgore, Donald Bickley, Joe (Connie) Bickley, Matthew (Rena) Bickley, and Mark (Janet) Bickley. He loved so many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends alike. Pallbearers will be Bill Bickley, Joe Bickley, Matthew Bickley, Mark Bickley, Joe Hiatt, and Bryant Redmond.
Funeral services for David C. Bickley, Sr. will be held at the Barbour and Son Funeral Home at 11 AM Thursday, September 4, 2014 with Minister Scott Phillips officiating. Burial will follow in the Olivet Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 5 to 8 PM.
