

Juanita “Jap” Highfield, 55 of Tollesboro passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014 at Hospice of Hope Care Center at Kenton Pointe. Jap was born December 7, 1958 in Georgetown, OH to the late Lewis Ray Lennex and Velma Louise Gaffin. She graduated from Maysville High School in 1977. Jap enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren participate in basketball, cheerleading and softball and also coached the cheerleading squad and rhythm team at the Tollesboro Elementary School for many years. She loved playing bingo and euchre with her partner in crime June Bug Highfield.
Jap is survived by her loving husband of 22 years Harry “Bubby” Highfield, son; Christopher “Nicky” Highfield of Tollesboro, daughters; Tamela Luther, Lexington, Mindy, Dawnya “DJ”, and Dakota “Cody” Highfield all of Tollesboro, brothers; Everett (Rose) Lennex, Buford, SC, Ernie (Jane) Highfield, Morehead, Jimmy (Trish) Lennex, Maysville, sisters; Linda Buckler, Tollesboro, Evelyn “Sissy” Buckler, Pam (Butch) French, and Angie Lennex all of Maysville, Grandchildren ; Brianna Luther, Brittany Highfield, Michael Highfield, Alexis Luther, Natalie Osbourne, Hunter Thomas, Mia Thomas, Mae Mae Thomas, and Aubrey Ann Highfield. Besides her parents she was preceded in death by one sister Debbie Highfield, mother and father in law Bruce and Lillian Highfield and several loved ones.
Funeral Services for Juanita “Jap” Highfield will be Friday, July 25, 2014, 11AM at Barbour and Son funeral home with Bro. Bruce Heller officiating. Burial will follow in the East Fork Cemetery. Pallbearers; Jared Malone, Jacob Malone, Delbert Hester, Jason Highfield, Jackie Mason and Lil Kenny Highfield. Honorary Pallbearers; Chaz Quinn, Kenny Scott, Austin Nolder, JT Sims, and Shawn Palmer. Visitation will be Thursday, July 24 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
