

Allure “Lurie” Justine Panella, 82, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 after a long illness surrounded by her family. She was born August 22, 1930, in Brooklyn, New York to Ethel and George Puckhaber. She became a nurse, married her true love Jack and moved to Riverdale, N.J. to start their family in 1965. She was a homemaker before returning to work at Arrow Group Industries in Pequannock, New Jersey where she retired and moved to Toms River over 20 years ago. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Toms River and enjoyed dedicating her time at the food pantry, counter meetings, her bible studies and helping others however she could. She enjoyed taking day trips and having fun with her family and friends and loved her little dog Jackie.
Lurie was predeceased by her beloved husband John Panella in 2001 after 47 years of marriage; her parents, Ethel & George Puckhaber, two brothers, William and George Puckhaber. She is survived by her two daughters, Robin Panella and Patricia Friel of Toms River; five grandchildren, Shanel Saggio and her husband John, Jaymie Braman and her husband Matt, Megan, Erin, Jonathan & two great-granddaughters, Isabelle and Harmony, and many good friends and family. She will be dearly missed.
Visitation will be on Monday, June 24, from 3-5pm and 7-9pm, and Tuesday 8:30-9:30am at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. There will be a funeral service at 10am Tuesday at the First Baptist Church, 700 Main Street, Toms River, NJ. Entombment will be at Holmdel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to the Bread of Life Food Pantry, c/o the First Baptist Church, 700 Main St., Toms River, NJ 08753.
