Doctor Anselm Okechukwu Igbanugo, 66, passed away on May 29, 2025, peacefully with his loving wife at his side after a brave and unyielding battle with cancer. He was a compassionate, caring, brilliant Physician. Known to his patients as “Dr. Iggy” or “Iggy.” He dedicated his time to each of his patients, giving them diagnostic explanations and medical care. To many patients he was not only their doctor but also a friend. It was not uncommon for him to call a patient late at night. His legacy isn’t only in the patients he healed or colleagues he inspired; it’s in the quiet strength he brought to every room, the laughter he shared, and the deep sense of purpose he lived by. To be in his life was to feel the depth of his character and the warmth of his heart.
He practiced Internal Medicine at the Neighborhood Walk-in Center, Hooper Ave. until he opened his Medical Practice at 54 Bey Lea Road. He then purchased his own suite at 508 Lakehurst Rd, Ste2A, where he practiced until present.
He was born in Kano, Nigeria to Robert and Virginia Igbanugo. He was the second born in a family of 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
He married his partner of 25 years Suzanne Wojciechowski on Sept 4, 2024. His favorite destinations were the Borgata, Ocean and Hard Rock Casinos in Atlantic City. He had many friends and acquaintances who knew him as “Doc.” He enjoyed shows, dining and slot machines. He will be dearly missed, and he touched the hearts of everyone he met. May he rest in peace. He was truly loved.
