
Born in Allentown, PA in 1924, Carl grew up in Greenwald, PA. He left school early to work and tend to a farm before entering the Navy in 1941. He served during WWII and left the Navy in 1947. Prior to leaving the service, he married his wife, Doris, whom he shared 48 blissful years with, until her passing in 1994.
During his lifetime, Carl retired from Russo Trucking in North Bergen, NJ when he turned 55 years old. From there he worked at Metropolitan Trucking and then went on to work for Petro Chemical, engineering pipe lines and was sent to Cerro Gordo, Puerto Rico on business. He resided there 22 years, moved back to New Jersey and settled in Toms River and spent his time gardening and landscaping. He was an active member of Teamsters Local 560, The Weehawken VFW, and was Lead Commander of the American Maritime Academy.
Carl is predeceased by his wife, Doris; his parents, Carl Oscar Linde and Margaret Greenwald Linde; one brother, John and a grandson, SSG John Linde.
Surviving are his 5 children, Michael Linde, Marilyn Linde Lewandowski, Margaret Linde, John Linde (Anne Marie Wilson) and Christine Ferlisi (Richard); 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild, with another great-great-grandchild on the way; Four sisters, Geraldine Yarnell, Anita Shires, Carole Lyon and Radelle Guth.
Services have been entrusted to Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
