

Born on February 21, 1945 and raised in Camden, Carolyn went on to graduate from Glassboro College. She dedicated over 50 years of her life to teaching at Toms River High Schools (East, North, and South) where she not only inspired generations of students in the classroom but also helped shape the curriculum for Modern American Literature.
A proud and active advocate for educators, Carolyn served as a union representative with the Toms River Education Association and the New Jersey Education Association. She was deeply committed to her colleagues and the teaching profession, always striving to make a lasting difference.
Beyond academics, she guided students as the advisor of the Culture Club and encouraged them to embrace creativity, inclusivity, and community. Her love of reading and passion for learning carried through every aspect of her life.
Outside of school, Carolyn was a devoted animal lover who found joy and companionship in caring for animals. She will be remembered for her kindness, her advocacy, her love of literature, and her unwavering dedication to education.
A visitation will be held Friday, September 19, 2025, at Anderson & Campbell, 703 Main St., Toms River from 1:00 PM until the funeral service at 2:00 PM. Interment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
In lieu of flowers, her loved ones would welcome donations to the ASPCA or the American Cancer Society in her name.
