Catherine Sferlazzo

Catherine Sferlazzo (Sweeney), age 70, passed away on April 16th, 2026. She was the beloved Mom to Philip Sferlazzo, Dana Daye, and Jaime Sferlazzo, as well as a bonus mama to Tara Sferlazzo, Lisa Farkas, and Justin Doherty.

If you knew our sweet Cath, please remember her as her pure essence: the bright, bold, loving tapestry of energy that she truly was. The her that existed before the insidious illness ravaged.

Think of her in the garden-stalks of sunflowers and wildflowers, fresh herbs, smiling. Remember her old Mazda Miata-top down- wind in her hair, beaming. In the best marinara sauce you’ve ever had, and the most incredible roasted lemon chicken you still can’t find anywhere. In arms wide open; her unparalleled warmth-Those who’ve had her hugs know. A deeply feeling and intuitively spiritual woman. Someone who saw, felt, and appreciated the vivid micro beauties and details of Life. A lover girl, people person personified.

Make something out of nothing and dance in the kitchen for her. Embody gratitude. Let her huge roaring laughter fill your memory. Look at the view and “turn up the music!” Tell people how you feel about them; make them feel seen and held.

May your mind, body, and spirit be free from all the shackles that bound you- return to your radiant wholeness. Hold Dad’s hand in the afterlife and exhale. Together again, at last. You are absolutely impossible to forget. We will miss you for lifetimes. Protect and guide us. Shine and show us the signs. We carry your heart- we carry it in our hearts.

A celebration of Cathi’s life will be held in conjunction with honoring the legacy of the great love of her life, Louis, our Dad who preceded her this past year. Friends and family will gather to eat, share stories, and breathe in the healing salt air in Seaside Park, NJ. Please contact the family if you are interested in attending.
