

Charles (Skip) C. Thaw, Jr., age 90, of Toms River, passed away on Friday, December 9, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he lived in Lower Merion, PA, Syracuse, NY, Long Island, NY, and Allentown, PA before moving to NJ in 2012.
Charles graduated from Lower Merion High School in 1951 and earned a Bachelors Degree from Syracuse University, where he was a starting guard on their basketball team. He taught secondary education in Long Island, NY. Charles went on to own a food provision business in Allentown, PA and then drove Limousines for J&J Limo’s until his retirement. He adored his family (and was adored in return by family and friends). He spent his time fishing with family or reading the paper, and always played his numbers. He knew Philly and Manhattan like the back of his hand. He enjoyed a good steak, beefeaters martinis, and hot fudge sundaes. He was a Philadelphia Eagles fan and loved the Mets.
Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Thaw; his father, Charles C. Thaw, Sr.; his wife, Carol A. Thaw; and his son, Frank Parave, Jr. He is survived by his son, Douglas Parave (Karen Ganci) and his daughters, Jerri Scravino (Daniel), Lori Hillegass (Jerome), and Lisa Pothering (Richard); his grandchildren, Nichole Robinson (Jonathan Wapner), Tyler Pothering, Melinda Rice; and his great grandchildren, Gabrielle Robinson, Aidan Robinson, Ava Merrick, Nathan Wapner, and Sophia Carbaugh .
Cremation was private. Cemetery Services and Celebration of Life will take place in Philadelphia, PA at a later date.
Arrangements were entrusted to Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 W, Toms River, NJ.
