My sadness for your loss. I think I might have played baseball with him at Irvington High.

I would see David every morning at my Wawa 
  He would  make the start of my day , that much better   He always had a joke , he always had a smile on his face , he always like to talk about current events , he will definitely be missed!  Even though I never knew him outside of that Wawa.  I never did get to tell him how good it was to see him every morning , he will definitely be missed ! What else could you say about a person who would put a smile on your face every morning!   

Hi Lynn and family.  Nancy and I will always remember you and Dave on the NMMA trip from Miami to Marathon.  Dave was like the MC on the bus ride.  Our son made us part of the youth hockey club.  It’s neat Dave dedicated so much of his time and energy to the strong ties of youth hockey.  As you move on with your life we wish you much peace and family love.  Mark and Nancy Adams

Coach Dave was the reason my son played hockey. Prior to being introduced to Coach, my son had been cut from another team. I was distraught for my son and immediately sent a note to FY asking if they needed another player. Coach reached out and said he would take my son. Since that day, I have appreciated and been thankful for knowing Coach. He went beyond teaching the X and Os of hockey, but teaching the kids the impact of team play, hard work and commitment…the real principles of life. As has been stated by many others, Coach would always reach out to see how his boys were doing and as a matter of fact, he did right before he left us…I will miss him at the rink but he has helped me, my son and many others understand the real meaning of being a good sport, person and friend truly is…Rest peacefully Coach! Dear Lynn and family.  So very sorry to hear this sad news. Dave was fierce opponent on the ice when I played against him in high school  and a fierce friend when we worked together at NMMA.  I’ll never forget him.

To the Schwer Family,

I was very saddened to hear of Dave's passing.  I remember in the early 80's when he worked for the Boat Show three of us from Tarrytown bought boats.  Dave set it up for us perfectly.  I haven't seen him in many years but we kept in touch through Facebook.  He always had a funny comment to make in my posts.    He was a great person and I am sure he will be missed by all who knew him.   I will surely miss his posts.   God Bless and hoping that all your great memories of him will give you peace and pull you through this sad loss.

As I morn David's death, I will always remember how good he made me feel. Hopefully, in his death he will make me a better person...that I can aspire to be like the Dave  knew.

Really sorry to hear about this.  Dave was a great guy,  spent many days at the Hockey rinks talking about Philly sports and our sons playing hockey.  Sorry for your loss

So sorry to hear of the passing of Coach Dave! He was Davids first Flyers Youth coach in 2016 and we firmly believe that because of his kindness, life lessons, hockey lessons, and truly caring for the kids, David is still playing for Flyers Youth 6 years later. Every year since Coach Dave would always, in person, via email, or by text, would always ask how David was doing and come to catch a game of his. Our deepest condolences to the Schwer Family! My heart is broken - David was a good friend since our days working at Baskin-Robbins in Tarrytown together. We had many many laughs and good times both sober and a little tipsy from driving around Irvington or parked down by the river drinking in my car. My condolences to his entire family. Dave and I started at the Pa Convention Center in 1993. Dave loved his job and co workers. He loved to tell old stories about being a Volunteer fireman, his wife Lynn, kids Lauren and Michael and his mother-in -laws cooking , especially her crab gravy.
He also loved talking about his past job , managing the boat shows .
Dave was a character and a very good hearted person.
He will be missed!!!

Coach Dave was a dear and trusted friend of the Basso family. He loved the boys he coached as though they were his very own children.
