Eileen Norma Senko (maiden name Guinn), 106, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2026. Born on March 10, 1920, in the Bronx, NY, Eileen was a remarkable woman whose life spanned over a century, filled with love, resilience, and dedication to her family.
Eileen grew up during the Great Depression, though her life was relatively comfortable due to her father's work in the railroad business. She attended Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, NJ, where she enjoyed roller skating and basketball. Her paternal grandmother, Blanche Osborne, was a stage actress known as Florence Hastings, who often reenacted scenes from her plays during visits.
During World War II, Eileen worked as a clerk/typist at the Naval Ammunition Depot Earle and at Fort Monmouth, NJ, recording ammunition shipments. After the war, she worked for four years at Prudential in Newark. She lived in Atlantic Highlands during this time. On a lark, she moved to Houston, Texas, with a friend, where she worked as a claims clerk and met her first husband, Buddy Moores. They had a son, Gregory Moores. Following her divorce from Buddy due to his alcoholism, Eileen returned to New Jersey and worked again at Fort Monmouth, where she met her second husband, Frank Senko. Together, they had two children, Jennifer and Walter, and lived in West Long Branch, NJ, where Gregory also lived with them.
In 1972, the family moved to Oxon Hill, Maryland, after Frank received a promotion in his government job. Eileen took evening classes in social psychology and worked various jobs, including as a salesclerk at Hecht Co. and organizing satellite data at Environmental Data Services. She also worked at NOAA. They later moved to Potomac, Maryland, to be closer to Frank’s work. Eileen’s mother, Hilda Guinn, lived with them during this time. Eileen worked as a head computer typesetter at Comprint in Potomac from 1979 to 1980.
Eileen’s life revolved around her family. Her daughter Jennifer attended Pratt Institute, while her son Gregory lived in Vancouver, North Carolina, and Seattle before eventually returning to New Jersey, where he lived with his mother in Barnegat for three years. Her son Walter attended college in Sacramento, California, and later returned to New Jersey as well.
After Frank retired, the couple returned to New Jersey, settling in Toms River, and Walter soon followed. Following Frank’s death in 2016, Eileen moved to Silverwoods, an independent living facility. She later moved to Barnegat to live with her son Gregory, who had returned to New Jersey to be with her.
After Gregory’s passing from COVID-19, Eileen returned to Silverwoods, where she lived with her daughter Jennifer and her beloved cat, Oscar, until her peaceful passing.
Eileen is survived by her daughter Jennifer and her son Walter. She was prominently featured in her daughter’s documentary, The Brainwashing of My Dad, where she became beloved by audiences who never had the chance to meet her.
She has now joined her beloved husband Frank, her son Gregory, and many cherished family members who went before her, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength, and perseverance.
Eileen will be cremated and laid to rest alongside her beloved husband at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Humane World for Animals.
