Fernando Amaral

Fernando Amaral, 81, of Toms River, passed away on Thursday, February 22, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Azores Islands, he came to the U.S. 49 years ago and settled in Newark. He was a member of St. Benedict Church in the Ironbound Section of Newark. Fernando was also a member of Construction & General Laborers Local 472 in Newark and The Azores Club in Newark. Fernando enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with his cherished family.

Fernando is survived by his beloved wife, Maria “Rosa”; four children, Tony and his wife Christina, Martin, Maria and her husband Richie P., and Pilar and her husband John; and seven grandchildren, Jamie, Vincent, Jacki, Thomas, Charles, Nicholas and Antonio. He was one of seven children and is also survived by his brother, Boanege, and sister, Deodata.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 25, 2018, from 4 to 8 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River, NJ. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Benedict Church, 65 Barbara St, Newark, NJ. Entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in North Arlington.
