

AGE: 79 WARETOWN
Franklin A. Hennessey, 79, of Waretown, NJ, passed away Sunday, Aug. 8, 2010 at Southern Ocean County Hospital. Franklin, a lifetime member of the Toms River First Aid Squad, spent his whole life in and around Toms River. After graduating Toms River High School in 1948, he enlisted in the US Navy and served aboard the USS Gearing during the Korean Conflict. Post discharge, he began a career with NJ Bell as a splicer's helper in 1953 and retired from AT&T in 1992 as a Division Manager. Franklin also gave freely of his time, serving not only as a leader for Boy Scout Troop 26, but also for his church. Franklin spent time as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Monmouth Presbytery, as an Elder in the Presbyterian Church of Toms River, and as both an Elder and Clerk of Session in the Forked River Presbyterian Church. More than those things, he was known as a man who deeply loved his family. He married his one great love, wife Jacqueline, in 1950. They spent their retirement traveling with one another and with family.
Franklin is predeceased by his parents, George Franklin Hennessey and Agnes F Engelke Hennessey; his sister, Carolyn Hennessey Garthwaite, and his beloved infant daughter. He is survived by his cherished wife of 59 years, Jacqueline Martin Hennessey; his son, George Franklin Hennessey II and wife Linda A Hennessey; his son, Steven M Hennessey and wife Kathleen A Hennessey; his sister, Mary Ellen Hudson; grandchildren, Stefanie Turner and Michael Hennessey; great-grandchildren, Morgen Bumbera and Jayden Hall, nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Endowment Fund of the Forked River Presbyterian Church. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at the Forked River Presbyterian Church, 131 North Main St. Forked River. Cremation will be private
