Frederick William Meserole passed peacefully in his Toms River home on March 29, 2021 after a long illness. He was born on August 29, 1942 in New Brunswick to Frederick Meserole and Theresa Fisher Meserole of New Brunswick. Fred raised his family in Franklin Park, New Jersey. He and his wife Elaine retired to Seaside Park where they lived for 10 years until their recent move to Toms River.
Fred was employed by the Home News Publishing Company for 27 years. He served his community as a volunteer member of the Franklin Park Fire Department where he was Chief for several years, as a leader in Cub Scouts Troop 100 and as an assistant coach for the local Franklin Park recreation soccer team. Fred enjoyed his time working for Kohlhepp Holiday Farms in East Brunswick, the Flower Corner in New Brunswick and for Sears in North Brunswick. He loved pitching for the Home News softball team.
Fred Meserole, nicknamed Fred in Red by those who knew him best, lived a life that most people dream of. His days were spent with successful fishing trips in his bright red Jeep under the summer sun of Island Beach State Park, cooking perfectly burnt hot dogs for family and friends in the backyard of his beloved Seaside Park home, and feeding the family dogs one too many treats from his shirt pocket when no one was looking. On any given day you'd hear "Toes" by Zac Brown Band coming from the backyard shed as he sipped his Fred Water; the only man we knew who actually had a brand of water named after him. He was loved by all - friends, cousins, grandchildren, and even passerby. Fred was the type of person that people gravitated towards, and he could make just about anyone laugh on even their toughest days. For that, we are all eternally grateful.
Fred is survived by his wife, Elaine Lazar Meserole, his three children - Fred Meserole, Kim Mailley and Chris Fredericks, 6 grandchildren - Drew Fredericks, Alex Fredericks, John Mailley, Connor Mailley, Meghan Mailley and Caitlyn Mailley, his niece Shelley Crosby Schuer and nephew John Crosby.
We will all miss him more than he could ever imagine, but are happy to know that he's got his toes in the sand on a beach somewhere where the sun never goes down and the Blue Fish blitz never ceases.
