Geoffrey Reeves Runyon

Geoffrey Reeves Runyon, 83, of Lakewood, NJ passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025. Geoff graduated from Kearny High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Rutgers College. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, stationed at Lakehurst Naval Base. A man of many interests, he loved bowling, golfing, and cheering for his favorite teams—the St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Giants. He had a love for the beach, especially vacationing at Carolina Beach in NC. Geoff was also a devoted member of Toms River Presbyterian Church.

More than anything, Geoff will be remembered for the unwavering love and dedication he gave to his family. He led his family by example, showing what it means to love deeply, show up fully, and live joyfully. Geoff’s legacy is one of presence, warmth, and the kind of love that lingers long after goodbye. He was never short on words—often offering heartfelt poems and thoughtful speeches at family celebrations—but it was his actions that spoke the loudest. He made every person feel known, seen, and loved, and his absence will leave a tremendous void for all who were blessed to know him.

Geoff was predeceased by his parents, Herbert and Jane Runyon, and his daughter, Susan Runyon. He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Joanne; daughter Jennifer Bruett and her husband Scott; his cherished grandchildren Cory, Jasmine, Heather, Katie, Victorria, and Scotty; and his three great-grandchildren, Nora, Jonathan, and Jade. Also surviving is his brother Robert Runyon and his wife Carolyn.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 17, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River. Cremation will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in memory of Geoff.
