Gerardo "Jerry" LARDIERI

21 febrero , 193924 junio , 2020

Gerardo "Jerry" Lardieri departed from us on Wednesday June 24, 2020 at peace and in the company of his daughter Michele Lardieri. During the two weeks prior he was continually in the company of dear friends and family sharing their love, stories, and hopes for his recovery.

Jerry was a kind, giving, and tolerant man and he lived his life in a way that is a model for these challenging times. He accepted the ups and downs of life with grace and optimism. He worked hard and steady to preserve and overcome challenges in his life without letting bitterness take hold in him.. He worked in the Ocean County Board of Social Services for over 20 years helping those in the community find services they need; and offering his coworkers humor and mentoring to deal with the pain and hardship their work naturally brings. After retirement and recovering from a serious health condition Jerry had time to return to active involvement in the Catholic Church (he was actively engaged in the church community as a youth including serving as an altar boy). He volunteered in the St Vincent de Paul Society at the Church of the Epiphany in Bricktown NJ and helped them in their work supporting families with financial and other challenges. Jerry loved the work and the people he worked with, and they loved him. Jerry also worked for Briggs Taxi from 1972 until his death. Jerry loved the opportunities being a cab driver and then dispatcher offered him to interact with a wide diversity of people in the human condition. He was valued by his coworkers for his humor, hard work, and thoughts and opinions.

Jerry was married for 40 years and raised four children: Patrick, Anthony, Michele, and Michael. His brother Peter Lardieri was his sole surviving family member. Jerry was loved by his nieces and nephews: Donna, Christopher, Matthew and Lauren. Jerry had many friends involved in his life who he leaves behind with many loving memories including Ruth Dunscombe, Joni Franken, Bob McGoff and others.

A mass honoring Jerry’s life is scheduled for Monday July 13, 2020 at 10 AM at the Church of the Epiphany in Bricktown NJ. Visitors are welcome however, they must wear masks and observe social distancing guidelines at all times. Jerry will be buried with his mother, father, and brothers at Glendale Cemetery in Bloomfield following the mass. The family will be in attendance and requests privacy. The family asks that any gifts be made as donations to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of The Church of the Epiphany to support the work Jerry loved so much.

Jerry was a devoted "company man" he would always try to accommodate the customer. I'll miss the wry sense of humor and the silly stories of his youth. God bless. Where gonna miss you!
