Born in Irvington, she was a resident of Essex and Union counties for many years until settling in Holiday City South in 2008.
Joan was a bookkeeper for the State of New Jersey for many years.
She later worked for Macy's at the Ocean County Mall until earlier this year.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Joan Gebhardt, and a brother, John Gebhardt.
She is survived by her children, Tami Gebhardt of Roselle Park and Eric Wierzbowski of Toms River; her sisters, Linda Konegen of Venice, FL, Karen Cunningham of Aberdeen, NJ, and Maureen Gebhardt and her husband Len Goldberg of Sarasota, FL; and her brother, Ken Gebhardt and his wife Diana of Orlando, FL; her sister-in-law, Marsha Gebhardt; and her many nieces and nephews.
Cremation was private and entrusted to Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River.
A memorial service and celebration of Joan's life will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 from 6-9pm at the funeral home.
