John Joseph Sura, Sr.

John Joseph Sura Sr, age 81, of Toms River passed away at Community Medical Center on April 5, 2022. He was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania. He moved to New Jersey as a child and lived in Toms River, NJ for the past 51 years.

John is predeceased by his father George Sura, his mother Bernice Benison, his sister Dolly Genovese and his son John J. Sura Jr.. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Frances Sura, his five children; son George Sura, daughter Denise and her husband Kenneth Honeycutt, daughter Valerie Tabano, son Raymond and his wife Stacy Sura, son Anthony and his wife Stella Sura, his fifteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

 John, also known as Jack, was the sole proprietor of John’s Heating and Air Conditioning. He had the natural ability to speak to anyone and bring light and laughter to those he encountered.  John’s brightest light in his life was his wife Frances, who he endlessly loved and prided himself on making happy and feeling protected.  His biggest enjoyment was making his grandchildren and children laugh while being actively involved in their lives. He loved trips to Pennsylvania, coal mines, hunting and taking rides. He enjoyed his late night snacks, his four hour all you can eat buffet visits and his Pepsi. He was a hard working family man who continually sacrificed to make his children succeed.

Our lives will never be the same but his remarkable legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. He will be greatly missed.

Viewing will be on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 4-7 PM at Horizon Funeral & Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 W, Toms River.
