Born in Brooklyn, NY he lived in Queens, NY, coming to Little Egg Harbor, NJ in 1974 and finally to Toms River in 2004.
John retired from NYPD after 24 years of service and was a Marine veteran during WW II serving with the 4th Marine Division. He was a member of the NY PBA and the Emerald Society of NYC.
He was predeceased by his wife Rita in 2004 and his sister Dorothy Wallace; he is survived by his daughter Connie Kiernan of Toms River; his grandchildren Christopher Kiernan and his wife Nancy and Denise Kiernan. He is also survived by two great grandchildren: Matthew and Brandon.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A chapel service, military honors and burial will take place Wednesday, 11:00 a.m. at Brig. General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown, NJ.
