Perry L. Smith

Perry was born in Lakewood, NJ to Vincent J. Smith and Johanna Wells Smith. He went to be with the Lord on September 2, 2012.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Vincent and Gerald and sisters Edna Zimmerman and Gloria Hughes.

Perry was educated in the Toms River schools and Toms River High School South. He began his undergraduate work at Upper Iowa University and received his Master’s Degree from Purdue University and did advance studies.

Perry worked at O.C.E.A.N. Inc., and taught at Brook Dale College. He was presently working as Sr. Driver, Road Division, for the Township of Toms River, Dept. of Public Works for 15 years, as a loyal employee.

Perry enjoyed all sports. Perry was involved in many local activities. He loved to engage in conversation which could lead to a debate.

Perry leaves to cherish his memory is his sister Delores Smith Salley (Walter) of Willingboro, N.J. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 7, 2012, from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. with the funeral service that evening at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. Cremation will be private.
