Phillip Shady, 88, of Lavallette, NJ, passed away on Monday, August 1, 2011 at Chelsea at Toms River. Born in Canonsburg, PA, he lived in Canonsburg before moving to Lavallette in 1959. Working as an Ironworker for over 25 years, Phillip was a member of Ironworkers Local 373 in Perth Amboy, retiring in 1985. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II. Phillip was a member the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 399 of Ortley Beach.
He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Flora in 1998. Surviving are two sons, Joseph Shady and his wife Janet of Toms River and Phillip Shady and his wife Marcia of Newtown, PA; his daughter, Kathryn Shady Bowker and her husband Elwood of Toms River; a brother, Thomas Shady of Las Vegas, NE; and his sister, Elizabeth Roman of Canonsburg, PA; and four grandchildren, Rebecca, Paul, Bethany and Robert.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A funeral service will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
