
Richard T. Maksel, 71, of Toms River, NJ, passed away peacefully on September 25, 2016, at Hampton Ridge Healthcare. He was born and raised in Jersey City and moved to Toms River in 1966. Richard was employed by Bob Kislin’s Sporting Goods in Toms River for over twenty years. He went on to work for, and later retired from, Dover Township. Richard loved to be outdoors. He enjoyed being out in his yard creating beautiful gardens with ponds and enjoyed identifying the birds that visited his birdfeeders. He had a knack for making and fixing things and was the “handyman” for his family and friends. Richard was a loving family man whose life revolved around spending time with his family and friends.
Richard is predeceased by his parents, Albert and Mary Maksel. He is survived by his wife of 39 wonderful years, Joyce Hartman Maksel; his children: Deborah Cullen and her husband Robert of Texas, Carolyn Hannon and her husband Michael of Beachwood, and Richard Beck Jr. and his wife Susan of Browns Mills; his grandchildren: Ryan Beck and his wife Bre, Casey Beck, Geoffrey Hannon, Kyle Hannon, and Branden Cullen; his brother Lawrence Maksel of Toms River; his two sisters: Valerie Castellina and Georgia Hanson, both of Toms River; and his nephews Sean Maksel and Anthony Castellina, both of Toms River.
Services will be private and under the direction of Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ.
