Robert was born in Brooklyn, NY on September 29, 1951. He attended Elementary School and Middle School in Brooklyn. He went to High School in Manhattan, The School of Art and Design where he would fine tune his cartooning skills. He was part of a band where he played trumpet throughout his senior year. Sometime after graduating high school, he joined the Army where he was stationed in Germany and learned the language with ease. There he learned electronics and realized that a cartooning career would not pay the bills, so he went on to college to pursue a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from The City University of New York after he left the Army.
Throughout his long career in engineering, programming and project management he worked for the Navy, PwC (formerly Price Waterhouse), KPMG, Blue Cross Blue Shield of NJ, ADP and lastly the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation where he retired from due to ECD.
Robert loved working with his hands and was very creative. From gardening to building a wall unit. No project was small or challenging for him. He was very meticulous in the process. Home Depot was his playground. He would go for some wood screws and return home 4 hours later with materials to build a bench. He loved hiking and the outdoors. He especially enjoyed camping with his brothers and friends. He always looked forward to welcoming the summer by the campfire. He enjoyed exploring and trying new restaurants from different cultures. He also loved shooting pool and talking smack to his opponents.
Robert will be greatly missed by his loving wife Ana. He is survived by his loving children; his daughter, Toshia Dunlap, Son Kenyatt McRoy, stepdaughter, Leeana Martinez and stepson Luis Emilio Martinez, his grandchildren; Nakenya, Naja, Keavon, Kyre, Kavon, Angel, Amani and Aiden, his great-grandson Ezra Braylon. He is survived by his siblings and their spouses; Donald & Cafie, Kenneth, Peter & Barbara, Barbara, Calvin, Steven, Glen, Clarence Jr., Brenda, and Gary. He is also survived by his extended family, his sister & brother in-Laws Hermina, Elizabeth & Axel, Sabrina, Javy & Vanessa, mother in-law Margarita plus 28 nieces and nephews.
