

Ruth Ester Serhus was delivered into God's Kingdom on July 29, 2012.
She was 103 years young. She was born in Willow City, North Dakota on May 21, 1909. Ruth was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter # 78, Roulette, North Dakota. She was a nurse who enjoyed working with her husband, Dr. Lawrence N. Serhus M.D. Ruth played piano with Lawrence Welk, the T.V. star, in North Dakota and with other bands. She loved life and raised her family of five when her husband died at an early age. She is remembered and loved for the caring way she took care of her family. IF THERE WAS ONE WORD TO DESCRIBE RUTH....IT WAS LOVE. She always thought about others before herself. Her love spread to others and made them feel good about themselves. She was survived by her loving daughters: Gloria, husband Walter, Diane, Joyce, husband Charles, her beloved son: Lowell, wife Judy, Grandchildren: Robert and Jon Serhus, George, Kevin, Wayne, Jennifer Benson, Kimberly Israel, Nancy Blackwood, Steven and Curtis Martin, TWENTY-TWO GREAT GRANDCHILDREN. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Dr. Lawrence Serhus, daughter, Karen Mckelvey and Two grandsons, Dr. Daryl Serhus, Brian Mckelvey. MOM WAS LOVE, by son Lowell, Love shines through when thoughts are pure. You showed us loves true way. We loved you Mom for who you were. You showed us love each day.
A Memorial Gathering to honor her life will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012, from 2 to 5 p.m. with a memorial service at 3:00 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. Condolences may be made by visiting www.andersonandcampbell.com.
