Steven R. Thomas

Steven R. Thomas, age 51, of Toms River, better known as Steve, Big Steve, passed away at his residence on Saturday, August 13, 2022. Born August 9, 1971, in Staten Island, NY to parents Domingo and Yvonne Thomas, he lived in Jackson and Lakewood NJ before moving to Toms River in 2021.

Steve was employed by Amazon at the Robbinsville NJ location. He also worked at JohnnyMac for numerous years. He trained his Jiu Jitsu at Madame before his work schedule didn’t allow. In his off time, he enjoyed going to concerts, playing soccer, surfing and Jiu Jitsu. His biggest joy these last months was working on his home. He was very proud of the improvements he had made and the work he himself had done. Our Gentle Giant; a Handy man he wasn’t but Google and you-tube had become his best friend for the DIY projects.

Steven is preceded in death by his grandfather John Kirton of Curaçao, his uncle Charles Richards of Curaçao and his niece Lacresha Thomas of Newark NJ

Surviving him are his beloved mother, Yvonne Thomas and father Domingo Thomas, his maternal grandmother Margaret Philips-Kirton of Curaçao. His girlfriend Debra Tencza, his sisters Vanessa Donaldson and family, Sharon Thomas and family, and Maria Webb and family, his brothers Michael (Brenda) Thomas, Benicio (Alexious) Thomas, Anthony Thomas and Raniek A. Mendez, His great aunt Cynthia Philips of Curaçao, his aunts Hillie Thomas of Brooklyn NY, Karen (Jeffrey) Kirton-Coleman of Toms River NJ; uncles, Dexter (Marelva) Richards of St. Maarten, Alvin (Gail) Richards of Staten Island NY, Rene (Janneke) Clarck and Gustave (Eva) Clarck of Holland, hosts of nieces, nephews, great nephew. His close cousins Darryl and Kevin Thomas of Brooklyn NY, Simone and Alvin Richards of Staten Island NY, his friend from childhood Martin (MJ), wife Margaret (PJ) Marzullo and his godsons, family friend Charles Mathews and many more cousins; here, Staten Island, St. Maarten, Curaçao and Holland; as well as numerous friends and acquaintances throughout the Tri-State and many different parts of the world.

A Memorial Gathering will take place on Friday, August 26, 2022, from 6:00pm to 8:00pm, at Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River, NJ 08755.
