Wayne D. Kierce, age 67, of the Holiday Heights section of Berkeley Township died unexpectedly on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Roselle Park before moving to Toms River in 1978. He settled in Holiday Heights in 2018.
Mr. Kierce was a Building Subcode Inspector for over 40 years, and retired from Jackson Township in 2019 after serving there for over 21 years. He enjoyed baking, particularly cheesecake, and was the “King of Gadgets”. He enjoyed traveling, especially to the Florida Keys and Key West, and was renowned as a “Bargain Shopper”.
He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his brother, Edward Kierce and his wife Kathy of Lake Toxaway, NC; his brother-in-law Tom Connell and his wife Sue of Brick; and many nieces and nephews, a great niece, godchildren and friends.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Horizon Funeral and Cremation Services, 1329 Route 37 West, Toms River. Cremation will be private.
