

Wilbur Eugene Guerin, 86, of Lanoka Harbor, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in Irvington, NJ, Wilbur lived in Kearny, NJ and was a resident of the Toms River area for many years before moving to Lanoka Harbor 11 years ago. Wilbur proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Wilbur was a bus driver for NJ Transit for over 40 years. After his retirement, he worked for St. Joseph Grade School in Toms River as a school bus driver. He served as a councilman for South Toms River in the 1960’s and was a parishioner of St. Barnabas Church in Bayville. Wilbur’s passion was his family; he loved spending time with them, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Wilbur was predeceased by his son Kevin Guerin, his parents Jerome and Mildred Guerin, sister Jeanette Ritchie and brother Jerome Guerin. Surviving are his devoted wife of 61 years Mary (Slifko) Guerin; his children Bernadette Wendel and her husband Clifford Wendel of Abingdon, MD; Thomas Guerin and his wife Susan Guerin of Voorhees, NJ; Donna Pelka and her husband Bruce Pelka of Toms River; Kathleen Fitzpatrick of Barnegat; Eric Guerin and his wife Vickie Guerin of Dillsburg, PA; his daughter-in-law Deborah Guerin of Tabernacle, NJ; his grandchildren Kelly Ziegler and her husband Ronald Ziegler; Matthew Simons and his wife Danielle Simons; Kyle and Sarah Guerin; Jonathan and Austin Pelka; Christopher and Brittany Guerin; Danielle DeMeo and her husband Michael DeMeo; Adam and Sean Fitzpatrick; and 7 great grandchildren Valerie, Ethan, Trey, Pierce, Isabel, Emma and Elliott; and many other special family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 22, 2016 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St. Toms River. A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Barnabas Church in Bayville. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Toms River.
