

William J. Irons, 74, a longtime resident of Toms River and Berkeley Township, passed away peacefully on Friday surrounded by family and music after a long illness. Bill was predeceased by his parents, Ruth and Jesse Irons; his wife of 42 years, Ruth Irons, and his sister Nancy. His surviving family consists of his oldest son, Christopher Irons, and his wife Jennifer and his grandchildren Evan and Nicole; his son Tracy and his grandchildren, Abby and Aaron; and his son Kevin and his wife Alyssa. Bill was born in Lakewood on April 7th, 1951, and he lived in Toms River and graduated from Toms River High School South in his youth. He attended Susquehanna University for music in college and later graduated from Thomas Edison University. He was a lifetime Verizon employee, and loved his friends at the company. He coached Little League and Pop Warner when his kids played. He was a quiet man who loved classical music, nature, his yard, and animals. He was a model of consistency in how he lived, and liked his food with only salt and pepper. He will be missed for his unassuming demeanor and devotion to all of those he loved. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 23, at Anderson and Campbell funeral home from 2-4 pm located at 703 Main Street, Toms River, NJ, 08753.
