WLADYSLAWA (PAT) PELKA, 93, of Island Heights, died Tuesday, November 26, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Pat was born on November 28, 1920 in Bayonne. She worked side by side with her loving husband and soul mate John for 63 years opening several businesses before retiring to the Jersey Shore in 1975. Together they raised five children in a household where love, food, and laughter were important.
Pat will live on through her family: children John and Chris Pelka of Kissimmee, Florida; Debi and Jim Carver of Toms River; Kiki Arevalo and Paul Cassidy of Island Heights; Bruce and Donna Pelka of Toms River; Cynthia Morrissey of Island Heights, as well as sister Jean Helthaler of Woodbourne, NY; grandchildren Brooke, Jennifer, Jimmy, Jonathan, Quinn, Patrick, Cole, Austin, Madison, Zachary, Zeke, and Hazel; great-granddaughter Daphne; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Monday at Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, 703 Main St., Toms River. A Funeral Mass will be offered at 10am Tuesday at St. Joseph's Church, Toms River. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Toms River.
