It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our devoted husband and loving father Antonio Moniz Medeiros, who passed away peacefully at home on April 19, 2025, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 84.
Antonio was born on June 30, 1940, in Ponta Garça, São Miguel, Açores. He was very proud of his Azorean heritage and brought the values of hard work, humility, and devotion with him when he immigrated to Canada to build a life for his family. He joined his extended family creating cherished memories in Winnipeg, Manitoba where he also proudly worked with CN rail.
He was predeceased by his beloved parents Manuel Moniz Medeiros and Maria do Espirito Santo de Braga, parents-in-law Higino Raposo and Maria da Conçeicao Medeiros.
Antonio is lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his devoted wife of 57 years, Teresa Medeiros (née Raposo), whom he married in 1968. He was a cherished father to Tony Medeiros (Janet) and Maria Brown (Lenroy), and loving Avo of Omar, Tanisha, Lennox, Ethan, Kyle, and Annabella to whom he was a steady, comforting presence in their lives. He will also be missed by his large extended family and friends.
A caring and gentle soul, Antonio touched the lives of all who knew him with his warmth, quiet strength, and kind heart. He found joy in the simple things: time spent with loved ones, and sharing stories. Some of his fondest memories was family outings in Manitoba and casting his line from shore.
Antonio, along side his dear wife, son and daughter fulfilled his greatest dream to revisit his family home in the Azores, his first time back in 45 years. It was a homecoming filled with emotion and peace—a journey that brought his life full circle. With his heart full, he was called home by our Lord and Saviour just two days later.
Antonio’s memory will live on in our hearts. We will forever love you and miss you.
