It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Audrey McDonnell, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, on January 18, 2025, at the age of 90. Audrey passed away in hospital, leaving behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love. Audrey was the loving and devoted mother of Patricia (Mike) Barber, John (Peggy), Mary (Ted) McDaid, and Michael (Terri). She was the proud grandmother of Amanda (Lauren), Tom, Shamus (Lindsay), Liam, Jennifer (Gregory), and Bryan, all of whom brought her immense joy and pride. Audrey will always be remembered as a welcoming hostess, especially for her annual pool parties, which were a highlight for family and friends. She embraced life with a zest for fun and adventure, always ready to dance, skate, travel, and shop. Her adventures took her to England, Ireland, Greece, Finland, Israel, and others, and she enjoyed many winters in sunny Florida. Audrey was born in Lindsay, Ontario but moved to Toronto at a young age. She began her career as a teacher and later worked as a placement clerk for the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB) where she left a lasting impact and made many lifelong friends. She was the cherished wife of Patrick McDonnell, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage. Audrey and Patrick married when she was 23, and though he passed away 30 years ago, she held his memory close in her heart. Audrey was widowed at the age of 61 and faced life’s challenges with grace and resilience, having also lost her mother when she was only 13. Audrey's vibrant spirit, her warmth, and her sense of adventure will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her love of life and the joy she brought to her family and friends will be remembered forever.
