It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Carissimo Elfi Fabro on Friday, January 25, 2019 at the age of 96. Carissimo (“Carino”) passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. Born on April 2, 1922 in Mels, Colloredo di Monte Albano, Udine within the Friuli region of Italy, he was the devoted son of Carlo Fabro and Assunta Beinat. He was the youngest of five children (Valentino, Derna, Erminda and Lionello). He was a lieutenant for the Italian Navy (Marina Italiana) and served for the entire WWII period. Searching for a better future, Carissimo immigrated to Canada in 1955. A year later, he was married to Renza (from Caporiacco, Colleredo di Monte Albano), a woman he fell in love with back in Friuli. Starting from the humblest of beginnings, they worked very hard and sacrificed to make a better future for their family. His stories and memories continue to live on throughout each generation. Now at rest, Carissimo is reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Renza Ovan. Cherished father to Nadia (Lou), and Dennis (Sabrina). Loving nonno to Ashley (Emilio), Brittney (Paolo), Sophia, and Nicolas. Proud bisnonno to Lucas and Abigail. Carissimo will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.
