Carol was the 4th child of Robert and Daisy McGrath’s 10 children. Carol is survived by her brothers Doug, Harold, Bill, Derek and Lee. She is survived by sisters Brenda, Deborah and Kim. Carol was predeceased by her brother Bob. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Chloe and Tessa.
Carol retired to Niagara-on-the-Lake shortly after the passing of her husband Ian. She spent her retirement years tending an extensive garden and was an avid reader. Her sons Iain and Mark will dearly miss the lengthy discussions about issues that were dear to her. She loved to debate politics, and was passionate about human rights, the rights of the underprivileged and longed for a more just world where no one was left behind. Her husband Ian passed in 2000. She never had eyes for anyone else.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made for charities and causes of concern and importance to the donor. Carol would want donors to remember her by giving back to their causes and communities in a way that bring meaning to them. Gifts large or small, kindness shown a neighbour or simply a helping hand to others are ways to celebrate her life and honour her memory.
