I just learned of Cathy’s passing far too early. We were good friends both at school and later when Cath was at Ryerson and I at U of T. Unfortunately, we lost contact when I returned to Ireland. A truly lovely person, who continues to brighten my memory. May eternal light be upon her. 

I'm so sorry for your loss. I only just heard about Cathy. She was a wonderful person who loved her family so much. We talked at work about our children, she gave me so much good advice on child rearing when I adopted my daughter. May your memories bring some comfort to you at this time.

I am a colleague of Cathy's from the CBC. I spent countless hours with her in an edit suite. Not only was she an extremely talented editor, she was gracious under pressure. She was also a kind, caring person and I was always delighted to learn she'd be my editor. I knew I'd be in capable hands and I knew I'd have a lot of fun working with her.  In later years when she crossed the floor from news to work in current affairs, we enjoyed stealing some time to catch up on each other's lives. I will miss those informal chats. I worked with Cathy over many years. Not only was she a truly talented visual editor, she was also an excellent story editor/journalist who asked probing questions and demanded answers - guiding producers with a sure hand!  And, as all who knew her can testify, a wonderful, wonderful, wonderful person.

I met Cathy back at Ryerson, part of that rag-tag group of barely-more-than-teenagers so determined to make our mark in the media. What Cathy already knew then and continued to practise as she made good on her goals is that laughter and kindness are the true markers of success. She always had plenty and shared plenty. I am so very glad that I knew her and so sorry for her family's loss.

I worked with Cathy at Global and I will never forget her warmth, her sense of humor and her great smile. Please accept my deepest sympathies.

Like others who have written, I worked with Cathy at CBC and was so saddened to hear of her death. It's hard to believe she's gone and it's so unfair. She was such a presence. Her edit suite was a little oasis where we laughed, argued and created great pieces, largely through her skill and meticulous attention to detail. As mothers of "Janes," we swapped stories. Her devotion to family life and her pride in Jane and Alec were always evident. She had her priorities straight. My condolences to Michael, Alec and Jane.

God has called his angel home where they is no pain or sadness only love and happiness for all who enter his kingdom. Cathy job on earth is done she'll be waiting for all her love ones to join her one day.

Michael, I was deeply sorry to hear of Cathy's passing. I worked with her on the National and believed she was one of the nicest people I have ever met. Our family has many fond memories of sharing time with Cathy and her family, but our favourite is when we all went to the park during the backout and laid on the grass and studied the stars. Cathy took such joy in these simple life pleasures, and her joy was infectious. We feel fortunate to have shared so many dinners, birthdays, hockey games and New Year celebrations with her. She was a wonderful friend and we'll miss her very much. Jane, Alec and Michael, please know that our love and thoughts are with you, and we hope you find joy in your own fond memories. Although Francie and I have lost touch over the years, I still remember when she introduced me to Cathy. She was kind and sweet to me and I never forgot that, and it was obvious she loved her sister. It is so sad that she passed so young. It was only by chance that I came upon her obituary and I want to convey my deepest condolences to the Wieczorek and McIssac family. I am sure she will be deeply missed.

Cathy will always be remembered in fondness from our days as editing workmates at global news.

Cathy has been a part of my life for a long time.  We were fellow editors at Global News and The Journal/National.  Although I never worked with her, I worked next to her.  Most of the stories we shared were of our families.  Talking to her always brightened my day.  She will be missed by many.  My condolences go out to Michael, Jane and Alec.

many many years ago, when our lives were only ahead of us, Cathy, as we would call her, and the rest of a random rag tag crew of misfits, had decide to go to Ryerson for Radio and Television Arts. Many friendships occurred during our 3 years there, many projects of varying levels of greatness were hatched, and always some very very good times occurred. 

On the one hand it was long ago, and on the other it is as if it were yesterday. Cathy, one of the well loved, as many of us have discussed her passing in the last day. My heart goes to her family and friends. One of the very good ones, dearest Cathy, with lots of caring from many moons ago.

Cathy was one of the first to welcome me to Global TV when I arrived in Toronto in 1985.  She was a warm, lively person, with a subversive sense of humour and a giggle that would dissolve us all into fits of laughter.  She was also a calm, strong and articulate editor, in high demand in that frenetic newsroom.  With time (like many in that energetic bunch of “Freddie's Editors”) we went our separate ways, only to reconnect years later when our kids became the focus.  Janet and I would bump in to Cathy and Michael at music recitals and ball hockey tournaments, where Jane would be raking in accolades for her piano & voice, and Alec would be cleaning up the field with his stick handling!   She was never less than 100 % committed to her family, beaming with pride and a fierce loyalty.  And through it all there was always that wonderful, joyous laugh!

Please accept our heartfelt condolences.  God's word reassures us - "For we know that when this earthly tent we live in is taken down (that is, when we die and leave this earthly body), we will have a house in heaven, an eternal body made for us by God himself and not by human hands."  2 Cor 5:1.

Even though I knew about Cathy's illness, this is so sad and unfair.  In my 20 years at the CBC, Cathy was the editor with whom I worked the most and the one with whom I wanted to work the most.  We argued all the time, but we always got along through logic, humour and, above all, mutual respect.  She was fun to be around, and, of course, she was a wonderful editor.  We were often interrupted in the edit suite by calls from the kids, and I loved that side of Cathy too.  I am going to miss her so much, but my condolences go out to her family for whom, I am sure, she was everything.

My Condolences go out to Michael, Jane and Alec and the Wiezcorek extended family- I did not have the chance to meet Catherine myself but am sure she was a very loved individual full of love and life to share amongst those in her circle. Let us not dwell on her passing but celebrate and cherish the memories she left behind and how Catherine Touched everyone she met. She was a good woman and know that having received her angel wings she is only gone from our World but watching up above upon her loved ones. God Bless you all during this most saddened time. <3<3

I worked on many stories with Cathy over the years at The National.  Cathy's skill as an editor always elevated the visual quality of every project we worked on.  But as seriously as she took her work as an editor, I suspect her role as a mother gave her more satisfaction. Cathy was my admired colleague at the National Magazine. She was a
 a fantastic editor, with great visual and story telling skills. A talented journalist with a wicked sense of humour.  We had so many great laughs together, I'll never forget Monday morning coffee klatches with her, Jack Schoon,Bob Schroeder, and Avi Lev. After I left the National to go to the fifth estate, we'd meet for lunch on occasion  and I'd try to lure her over to work with me there.  She always said no; while she'd love the work, she wouldn't want the hours. Being there for Jane and Alec was too important for her. As crazy talented as she was in her professional life, she relished her  role as Wife and Mother. I will miss her wit, intelligence, and her friendship. God Bless you Cathy, you and your family are in my prayers.

I was saddened to hear of Cathy's passing. I was a reporter at Global Television when I met Cathy in 1984 and had the privilege of cutting many stories with her over the years. She was bright, very creative, had a sharp wit and she was a very warm and kind individual. My condolences to her family.
