Charlotte died peacefully at home, with her beloved “adopted” daughter, Ellen, by her side.
Charlotte leaves behind the loving members of the Stuart family in her native Scotland. On this side of the Atlantic, she will be sorely missed by her St. John’s family and countless others. Charlotte touched the lives of so many people.
Charlotte first trained as a deaconess in Scotland, spent the years 1966-68 in Nigeria and came to Canada in 1970. After serving the church in many capacities, she graduated from Knox College and was ordained in 1981. She was the minister of St. John’s Presbyterian church for twenty-seven years. She has continued there as a very active Minister in Association until the time of her death.
Throughout her life, Charlotte never lost the vision of God demanding justice in the world. Wherever she could, she made things happen for the betterment of people and the community.
A memorial service for Charlotte will be held be held on Thursday, May 2, 2024, 1 p.m., at St. John’s Presbyterian Church, 415 Broadview Avenue, Toronto, M4K 2M9. In lieu of flowers, a donation to St. John’s or a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
If you are unable to attend in person, join us in on-line worship on that day and time:
