Charlotte Stuart was a stalwart at St. John’s Presbyterian Church and an inspiration.  She and Agnes were a welcoming and caring force in the St. John’s community.  When I founded the Riverdale Youth Singers in 1999 Charlotte and the St. John’s community welcomed us with open arms.  Anne Norman was the first “volunteer” manager of the choir and St. John’s was our musical home.  Thank you, thank you, thank you, Charlotte Stuart for your example and witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Your sermons were always well prepared and well thought out and supported in the modern world.  Sharing in the music ministry  at St. John’s on Sundays was a joy too.  I am grateful for my association with Charlotte and Agnes and everyone at St. John’s Presbyterian Church - Broadview - you helped shape the person I am today …”May flights of angels sing thee to thy rest” dear Charlotte Stuart.

Charlotte was a huge part of our family.  I never knew a time that she wasn't part of my life.   Aunt Agnes met Charlotte in Nigeria and a few years later when Charlotte came to Canada it was like my mother, Mary, and Aunt Jan gained another sister.   They were off to hockey games and baseball games, dinners out and at home, trips to Kingston, to Stony Lake, to the States.  

 I think I can speak for all the Gollan Kids and say that Charlotte was like another Aunt to us all and we will miss her, her love of life and sense of humour.

On behalf of my entire family, Carol Anne and I wish to express our deepest sympathy and heartfelt condolences to all family and friends of our dear friend, Charlotte Stuart.  Charlotte was the successor of my Dad, Rev. Peter Gordon MacInnes (retired 1981) to the pulpit of St. John's PC, Toronto.  She was a remarkable Clergy and religious leader who became a personal friend.  We have so so many memories that we will cherish.
As we now live on Vancouver Island, BC, we are unable to attend the Memorial Service in St. John's but we send our love and support.
May she Rest In Eternal Peace.  We have been truly blessed to have known her.

I'm so sorry to her about Charlotte's passing.  She was giving a sermon the first time I entered St. John's, and it was lovely hearing that Scots accent throughout the church.  She was a lively, interesting and lovely person who will be missed dearly.
"Fair winds and following seas, Charlotte," as we say in the Navy for our lost shipmates.

Charlotte has played a vital role in my family’s life. We will miss not having her in  our  presence. 
Such a spirited lady who loved life and the people she helped and inspired. 
Such a loss to the world but her work, counsel and thoughtfulness will always be remembered. May she rest in peace

I remember Rev. Stuart from almost exactly 20 years ago, when she, the late Agnes Gollan, and friends at St. John's, welcomed me to their church. 

Charlotte was a good listener and advocate for those with health and mental health struggles.  I treasure in my memory of a couple of theological discussions we shared about our/the  "end times" and what to do, before them! 

I'm so glad to have spoken by phone to Charlotte just a few days prior to her  passing.  I prayed for her relief from pain and suspected that she would soon be called "Home." 

Charlotte was very kind to my mother, another diaconal worker, who visited me in Toronto when I was enduring illness, years ago. So both my mother and I send our love and condolences to Ellen, whose wonderful life, family and successful career meant so very much to Charlotte and Agnes--and indeed, to the members and adherents of St. John's. 

The lights of Toronto (and beyond) have dimmed at her passing.  But the bells of Heaven have rung more clearly than before. 

(Although I have an undeferrable appointment that conflicts with the first part of Charlotte's funeral, I will try to join the service, about 30 minutes in-progress. Will the service be recorded?)

If we send cards to Ellen Moore c/o  St. John's Presbyterian Church in Toronto, will Ellen receive them? Or could I please receive an address for Ellen by calling the church office?
