September 1, 1940 – July 22, 2025
Conrad Clarence Bouchard passed away peacefully in Toronto’s Bridgepoint Hospital on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at the age of 84.
Conrad was born Sept. 1st, 1940 in Arichat, Richmond County, Nova Scotia to parents Clarence Charles Bouchard of River Bourgeois and Mary Anita Boutin of Arichat. In 1960, Conrad married Mona Duann of Petit de Grat, Richmond County, Nova Scotia.
Conrad worked at various jobs in Nova Scotia until, unhappy with local job prospects, he and his young family made the move to Toronto, Ontario. There Conrad initially worked repairing elevators and eventually moved on to repairing printing presses for AM International. When that company went bankrupt, he set up his own press repair business which he operated for 7 years until he retired.
Conrad was of French Acadian descent and grew up on the Isle Madame part of Cape Breton Island where the mix of Scottish, Irish and Acadian cultures provided a heritage rich in musical expression. Conrad loved this music and learned to play the guitar to participate in the local kitchen and shed party traditions.
Conrad loved hiking in nature and kept a list of birds seen in his lifetime. Favourite spots for this were parts of the U.S., Alberta, B.C., and further afield: Trinidad and Tobago, Ecuador and Costa Rica.
Conrad is predeceased by brother Gustave, sister Marie Jardine, granddaughters Lauren and Michelle Bouchard.
Conrad is survived by his wife Mona, son Darin (daughter-in-law Allison), daughter Paulette (son-in-law Stan), sister Celine and brothers Wilfred (sister-in-law Coreen) and Robert.
The family wishes to acknowledge the caring staff in the Palliative Care unit at Bridgepoint hospital who took care of Conrad in his final days.
A Celebration of Life for Conrad will be held on Friday, August 15th, 2025 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Griffin-Mack and Trull Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Indspire (supports Indigenous secondary education) or Doctors Without Borders.
