

Demetre Kakaricos passed away peacefully Monday morning on June 15, 2015. He was born in Leondon, Nemea, Greece where he lived his teenage years. He was one of the few who finished high school. He served in the Greek military in 1955. He came to Canada where he brought his future wife Sophia Vasilakos. They married on May 25, 1957. He struggled with the language but was still able to build his prosperous future and took care of his family for many years. Demetre (Jim) is preceded in death by his parents Tom and Helen Kakaricos, his brothers Tony and Othana, and his sister Georgia. He is survived by his loving wife Sophia of 58 years, his daughter Helen and sons Tom and George and his wife Lydia. His grandchildren Tory Maria, Demetre, James and Antonio. Demetre had a life well lived. He was a precious gift of hope, strength and grace. A life well lived is a legacy of joy, pride, pleasure, wisdom and kindness. Demetre had a life full of laughter and happiness. He had a lot of love to share with his family, friends, the church and the community. Visitation will be held at Jerrett Funeral Home, 660 Kennedy Road, Scarborough on Wednesday, June 17, 2015 from 3-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at St. John's Greek Orthodox Church, 1385 Warden Ave., Scarborough on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at 10 am. Interment at Pine Hills Cemetery. If desired, donations in Memory of Demetre, may be made to SickKids Foundation.
