Doug was a graduate and devotee of the University of Toronto, especially Hart House; and a proud Clarkson Gordon alumnus. However, Doug was not defined by his work.
A lifelong resident of Toronto, Doug was inspired by summertime memories of Temagami’s Keewaydin Camp and sustained by his books and the daily newspaper. He enjoyed lively philosophical discussions, history, big band music, canoeing, good food and drink, railways, numbers and Pogo comics.
He is survived by his daughter Alison (David) and son David (Suzanne), his sister Muriel and his former wife, Barbara.
The family thanks the staff at Harmony Hills Care Community on O’Connor Drive for the excellent care Doug received during his nearly three years there.
Family and friends will be received at the TRULL “NORTH TORONTO” FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION CENTRE, 2704 Yonge St. (5 blocks south of Lawrence Ave.) on Wednesday, March 16th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held in the Trull Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to Keewaydin Camp (www.Keewaydin.org) or Hart House (http://tinyurl.com/h5rat4h).
