March 31, 1946 - August 21, 2016
It is with deep sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Shelley as the tragic result of an accidental fall.
Born in Sydney, Australia, she grew up in Toronto where she attended Jarvis Collegiate Institute. She studied at both Ryerson and Mount Allison University.
Her career as a federal public servant included positions with the Canadian Human Rights Commission and the Canadian Transportation Safety Board. Following her working life she moved to Bobcaygeon Ontario where she became an integral part of the community. She was an active supporter of Christ Church Bobcaygeon and contributed generously to many community activities over the years, most recently the campaign to preserve Boyd Island as a natural habitat. She also played a significant role in Citizens for Responsible Aggregate Development (www.stopthisquarry.com) which has worked to stop the proposed quarry just north of Bobcaygeon.
Shelley's many friends will remember her wit and intelligence, her beauty, her wonderful smile, her laugh, her kindness, and her enthusiastic enjoyment of life.
Shelley is predeceased by her father, Earl Alfred William "Oscar" Wild, her mother, Susanna Ferrar Wild (nee Davidson) , and her brother Hugh Lawrence Wild. She leaves behind her much beloved sister Philippa (Pip) Wild, beloved brother in law William (Bill) Walker, beloved nephew Edward (Ted) Walker, her much loved partner David Robertson, and numerous loved and loving cousins including Andrew, Margaret, and Tom Davidson, and Geoffrey and Rex Wild. She also leaves countless friends who are wondering how this bright light can possibly have been extinguished so tragically and abruptly.
There will be a gathering at Trull Funeral Home - Danforth Chapel, (1111 Danforth Ave., East, east of Donlands Ave.) on Monday, September 5th from
1:PM to 4:00 PM. It will be a chance for family and friends to meet and share feelings and memories. There will also be a memorial service at Christ Church Bobcaygeon on September 12th at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.
Donations in Shelley's name may be made to Christ Church Bobcaygeon (christchurchbobcaygeon.com) or to the Kawartha Land Trust (https://kawarthalandtrust.org.)
