

Fr. Keith Langstaff of the Society of Jesus died peacefully on October 21, 2024 at René Goupil House in Pickering, ON. He was 80 years old and in his 55th year as a Jesuit. Son of Harrison Langstaff and Hazel Burley, Keith was born in Cornwall, Ontario and entered the Society of Jesus in1970. In 1974 he began theology studies at Regis College, Toronto, and was ordained in 1977. After further studies in theology, he served in retreat ministry at Loyola House, Guelph from 1998 to 2000, then as a formation director at St Augustine’s Seminary in Toronto. He then taught at Campion College in Regina for six years before returning to the Toronto area where until his retirement in 2020, he ministered at Martyrs’ Shrine, conducted retreats and engaged in local pastoral ministry. His final years in the infirmary suited his spirit and he took part in the daily Jesuit life. Visitation, Monday, October 28th from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., with prayer vigil at 7:30 p.m., in the chapel of René Goupil Residence, 2315 Liverpool Road, Pickering ON. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, October 29th, 2024 at 10 a.m., in the chapel of Manresa Spiritual Renewal Centre, 2325 Liverpool Road, Pickering ON. Available via Livestream. Interment to follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Jesuit Cemetery, 5420 Highway 6 North, Guelph ON. Donations to the Jesuit Advancement Office, 43 Queen’s Park Cres.
