Gary passed away peacefully at McKenzie Health following a lengthy illness.
Gary spent much of his life at the Huronia Institution before becoming a cherished member of the Meta Family at our Bond Group Home, where he lived for 28 years. At Bond, he found stability, care, and lasting companionship with his housemates. Among those relationships, none was more meaningful than the one he shared with his best friend, Keith. Living with his “BFF” brought Gary immense comfort and joy.
Gary had a fondness for wearing hats—a small but stylish detail that reflected his unique personality and flair. He touched the hearts of many and will be deeply missed. His courage, zest for life, and unshakeable spirit continue to inspire all of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
During his time in palliative care, Gary’s will to live never wavered. His fierce determination and inner strength were a constant source of inspiration to everyone around him.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Gary’s housemates and our deepest gratitude to the staff at Bond and all those who had the pleasure of knowing or supporting Gary with care and compassion.
