

George A. Scott, Professor (Ret.) at Seneca College passed away with his beloved wife Patty by his side. He is survived by his son Jordan, granddaughter Alexandra and daughter-in-law Donna Liu. He is predeceased by his wife Nancy, brothers Robert, Cam, and infant daughter Johanna. He is survived by his step sister Martha Elliott (Dave), nieces Katrina Tavares (John), Kari Anne Scaletta (Anthony) and sister-in-law Anne Scott.
George taught at Seneca College, Toronto, for 26 years in such diverse programs as Radio and Television Broadcasting, where students learned how to do journalism, 16 mm international award-winning films, and Toronto-based cable colour television productions. George also taught senior technical writing courses to Business, Civil Engineering, Fire Protection, and Bio-Chemical/Pharmaceutical students at Seneca College and the University of Guelph.
George was most proud of his Tech-Writer! website which reached number One status on Google and other sites garnering hundreds of millions of hits.
George returned from retirement and served as an Academic Counselor to Seneca International where he helped thousands of students from 115 countries make career choices and solve issues adapting to their Canadian and International field of studies.
George graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism and a B.A. from Sir Wilfrid Laurier University, Waterloo. As an undergraduate, he also attended St. Mary’s University and King’s College, Dalhousie University, Halifax.
Prior to returning to Seneca in 1990, George was senior representative for EDA Instruments, Toronto, where he created wide area data networks for international conglomerates. Before that, he was Manager, Business Development, on the iNet 2000 gateway project at Telecom Canada, Ottawa, preparing the world’s longest Trans-Canada fibre optic network for high-speed Internet services. This popular service became “Sympatico” through Bell Canada.
Mr. Scott was seconded to Telecom Canada, from SaskTel, Regina, where he was Manager of Information Provider Services on the Agritex agribusiness service and, out of 10 provinces, according to Canada’s Dept. of Communications, “…the most successful telephone company Videotex/Telidon field trial: Pathfinder!“
Before joining Seneca in 1968, George was Assistant to the National Director of Public Relations for the Canadian Red Cross Society, National Headquarters, Toronto. Prior to that, he worked on several documentaries and news programs for the CBC across Canada, the U.S. and with ABC News “Scope” in Vietnam, Thailand and Hong Kong.
George was born in Kitchener and raised in Guelph, where he graduated from Guelph Collegiate as “The Platter King” D. J. of…Rock & Roll!
