I spent many years with Joanne at Meta. She was always so kind, thoughtful, and loving.

I am heartbroken to learn of the passing of our lovely Joanne. Those of us at Meta Centre, had the good fortune of spending more than 30 years with her and where she was always ready to have a good time dancing and singing. Her upbeat, positive personality and permanent smile made others gravitate toward her. She was loved and will be missed by those who had the pleasure and honor of knowing her. Words cannot express the shock and sorrow felt when news came of Joanne's sudden passing.  My deepest condolences to the Russo family.  Joanne was a bright light.  She was such a loving, caring, funny, and thoughtful soul with a zest for life.  She loved being surrounded by family and friends and loved music and dancing.  I will never forget the time we spent dancing and singing to Olivia Newton John.  She certainly loved music.

I have so many fond memories with Joanne - most of which include us joking or laughing together.  She always had a warm smile that could brighten any room.  I will miss Joanne deeply as will her Meta family.

When I think of Giovanna, I automatically hear her inquisitive questions and hearty infectious laughter that gravitated the room to another level. She new how to have a good time, showing off her dance moves, cracking jokes, travelling, swimming and  having a great skill of being an expert foodie.  She only found good in those who were lucky enough to share her company. She was the “glass half full” kind of woman. Negativity just repelled from her and only radiated purity. Her personality was infectious and she was always ready to try anything.  She will be sadly missed by all her friends and staff at Meta Centre.

Although Joanne has passed so abruptly & unexpectedly,  she did  leave such a positive impression - with her kind, caring , happy/positive & loving nature- her sense of humor was so "quirky"  & infectious.   She was such a beautiful person & soul.  Although her loss has left a path of pain & sorrow,  please take comfort in knowing that her last few days on earth, she was so happy, surrounded by some of her family, spending quality time together, surrounded by love & what really matters in life.   We feel blessed for getting to know her.
