Grace Margaret Sturgeon died quietly on March 12, 2023, having lived a rewarding life of 90 years. Grace is predeceased by her husband Donald James William Sturgeon and partner Harold Preston Miller. Grace is survived by her four daughters Hellen, Bev (Don), Joan (Mike) and Lorraine (John); her grandchildren Robyn (Andre) Chad (Melody) Kerri (Chris), Elanor (Brent), Creag and Kirk, and her great grandchildren Elliot, Brody and Ryker.
Grace was an unstoppable volunteer, involving herself in the community over the years. She served as Girl Guide leader and president of the Home and School Association when her children were young. St. Luke’s Anglican Church benefitted from her energetic and enthusiastic involvement in their ministry, becoming a Lay Reader, a Warden, and a Lay Eucharistic Minister. For 20 years she volunteered at Toronto East General Hospital (now Michael Garron) and was President of Volunteer Services for many years. When she moved to St. Clair O’Connor Community (SCOC), she couldn’t hold back! Involving herself in the many initiatives and activities there, she eventually became President of the Residents’ Council. She lived her last nine years at SCOC where she enjoyed great friendships, watching sports and knitting socks. We’d like to thank the SCOC staff and especially the PSW’s who cared for her so well during the last year of her life.
A Celebration of Life will be held March 17th, 2023, at Giffen-Mack and Trull Funeral Home, 2570 Danforth Ave at Main Street at 12 Noon. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or Michael Garron Hospital.
