MURDOCK, JOHN HAUGHTON Peacefully, John Haughton Murdock passed away on April 20, 2025, at The Wexford Residence (Scarborough, ON), aged 91 Years. John grew up in Windsor Ontario and made Scarborough his home for most of his life. He joins his predeceased grandson, Dane and his brother James Ronald. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia Barbara (Brown), his sons David, Andrew and Michael, his grandchildren Joshua, Jasmine, Chenoa, Mackenzie, Ella, Rowan and his great grandchildren Orion and Lawrence. A lifelong downhill skiing enthusiast. Along with his wife Pat, John was a dedicated Ski Patroller and Patrol Leader for many years, feeding his love of sun and easy banter on the lifts. John never let a fact or two get in the way of a good story, and he revelled in tales of his youth, proudly recalling his father’s (Major Russell Henry Murdock) service in both world wars and his own experiences as a young man during this time. John was a committed father, serving as Scout Leader, Soccer Coach, Ski Instructor and many other roles to his sons. John also contributed to many community activities: United Church, Boy Scouts of Canada, Local Community Association, Thomson Park Tennis Club, Sailing Clubs, Grand Old Administrators of Transportation Services and the Royal Canadian Legion. He was active in the Ontario Model Soldier Society and enjoyed collecting and displaying his troops. Always a leader, seldom a follower, John truly marched to the beat of his own drum. We will remember him for his love of his dogs, love of sunbathing in the nude and the mischievous glint that showed in his eyes when he was spinning a good yarn about his hay days Ski Patrolling in the early days of Blue Mountain. Very special thanks to all of the kind and generous staff at The Wexford long term care home for their attendance to John in his final few months. We miss you already Dad!
