Thank you for being you and striving to make the world a better place, more accepting, for trans folks and all of us who are just a little different.  Your life meant so much and helped me come out as I am sure it has helped many others.  may your spirit be free now.

There's an unending amount of positive things I could say about you, but selfishly, I am just devastated that I will no longer see you walking your distinctive walk to wherever your next mtg was or which protest we may have been both heading off to;your heart was so huge. There isn't anything big enough to fill the holes left behind in our many smaller communities that made up our wider community. You were more than a sum of the whole, you were so many sums. What a welcome addition I thought you were to this area. So real. So beautifully real. But wow, who could have predicted the causes you would end up working so tirelessly on, would have done so much good for so many people. I felt privileged to see your growth from your first days in Toronto. From getting to know you at those 519 mtgs, to hanging out at Toby's or the Second Cup, to four of us sharing a Thanksgiving by shoveling horse manure at a riding ranch in exchange for a turkey meal and a horse ride. And then sharing the stage in performance together, to all the work you did that I never knew would end up paving the way for guys like me and making my journey just a little smoother. I owe you so much thanks Kyle. The entire LGBTTQI community and it's allies, owes you an enormous amount of gratitude. I love you Kyle, I will miss you so much that I don't think I'll be able to erase your last VM to me. I can hear your voice now, but I don't want to lose it's sound in my head. Selfish; I know.
 The impact of your work, extends way past the boundaries of this city, this province, this country. You were more than a welcome addition to Toronto. You came here just when we needed you most. I only hope we can honour you by being kinder and gentler to each other, while still fighting those 'good fights'. If we can do it with only half as much grace as you, we'll be ok.            I wish to extend my condolences to those closest to him, and to everyone who cared for, adored, and loved Mr. Kyle Scanlon. He was one of the best. A really great man.

Kyle, may God receive you safely home to paradise and comfort your family and friends and loved ones. May we all be inspired by your courage and leadership and keep all that you held true and good and beautiful, alive.
